Solubility
Piroctone Olamine can dissolve in surfactant systems. This is a remarkable advantage that can distinguish this kind of anti itching products for example, ZPT, easily soluble in ethanol (10%) . It can dissolve in water of surfactants or ethanol/water (1%-10%), slight soluble in water and oil .PH can make much difference to solubility, generally speaking, solubility will be bigger in neutral or slight alkali solution.
Remix with materials of cosmetics
Piroctone Olamine has a good renmixture with every materials of cosmetics, in particular, the anionic active components of MD-204 can mix with a lot of cationic surfactants (tetra amine salt) and cationic active components, in some cases, this remixture can increase the solubility of Piroctone Olamine. This is an important mark that the remixture of the MD-204 has the advantage over other antidandruff and anti-itching, for example, ZPT, MDS, CLM, etc.
Added 0.5% below, except for formaldehyde, Piroctone Olamine can remix with essences containing aldehyde and ketone. Although the colour can change when Piroctone Olamine is got in touch with copper and iron, it is light yellow, and it has no effect on Piroctone Olamine. In actual production, non-ion water can be used preventing heavy metal ion as far as possible or adopting dye covering way, etc.
Effect of PH value
Piroctone Olamine can exist stable within PH3-9. Under neutral conditions, Piroctone Olamine exists in acid free form. Pka=7.4 .
Heating stability
Piroctone Olamine has a good heating stability, In the producing Process, if the temperature exceeds 80°C occasionally ,it can not affect the property of the Piroctone Olamine otherwise ,the shampoo containing MD-204 (PH 5.5 and PH 7.0)can store within one year under 40°C
